{"id":6,"date":"2024-07-02T01:47:42","date_gmt":"2024-07-02T01:47:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadu.blog\/?p=6"},"modified":"2024-07-02T01:47:42","modified_gmt":"2024-07-02T01:47:42","slug":"coming-up-for-air","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadu.org\/?p=6","title":{"rendered":"Coming Up For Air\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">I wrote this to my partner as we are moving to the next stage of our relationship from old to new, so to speak \u2014 mainly as a show of my own frustration as the adaptive process has accelerated under the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) culture, conditions and requirements facing leadership\u2026 ironically moving now through the half-way point of 2024 (a Dragon Year).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">I figured this might be the best way to restart the blog process that will lead from \u2018old to new.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Here\u2019s the note and as they say\u2026 off we go, like a herd of turtles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">\u2014\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Hi,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Just letting you know that the creative process is not easy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">I\u2019ve been struggling with terminology as the nature of the world is describable only if you stop it long enough to say \u2014 oh that\u2019s what it is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">All to be more confusing\u2026 using the metaphor of a duck gliding effortlessly on the top of the water \u2014 I\u2019m paddling like hell!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Although, it\u2019s the continuous revision of ideas to make it all representative of a reality, in large part, is continuously changing position <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16\" src=\"https:\/\/leadu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Smiley.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"17\" height=\"19\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">If I change one thing, it\u2019s a train car phenomenon at work and I just came up for air to say +#*?!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">I reached out to commiserate as I realize from your side, it probably doesn\u2019t describe the situation <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16\" src=\"https:\/\/leadu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Smiley.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"17\" height=\"19\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">No request made<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16\" src=\"https:\/\/leadu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Smiley.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"17\" height=\"19\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">\u2014\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">As cryptic as that may sound, the affect or feeling points to the frustration most are dealing with in VUCA culture, conditions and requirements is accelerating as we move quickly from old to new.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">In reference to change, I remember the exchange between Bill and Mike in Hemingway\u2019s THE SUN ALSO RISES:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cHow did you go bankrupt?\u201d Bill asked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cTwo ways,\u201d Mike said. \u201cGradually and then suddenly.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">We are experiencing the same feeling having been \u2018out there\u2019 sorting through it all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Welcome to the new LeadU blog and our journey together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">As the author and founder of Leadership University before there was one, I have decided with the new book about to come out of the oven to utilize my spacetime and beyond to unpack the idea emergent from the quote by Ariel Durant from THE LESSONS OF HISTORY:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s3\">\u2018The present is the past rolled up for action, and the past is the present unrolled for understanding.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">She doesn\u2019t talk about the future and its relationship to the past and present.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">My focus in the blog will be about the \u2018developing\u2019 LeadU Way or LUW as I\u2019ll refer to it.
